Motueka High School Pool

Motueka High School Pool is now closed for the 2017 Summer season

Sport Tasman advises that due to poor water visibility at the Motueka High School Pool the pool will not reopen for 2017 for Afternoon Public Swimming. It is important to highlight that this is a water visibility issue and not necessarily a water quality issue.

Sport Tasman’s Motueka Recreation Centre Manager, Jody Maru said our staff have to be able to see the bottom of the pool to provide safe supervision. We had days where 1 metre below the surface was not possible. The School has been working hard over summer to rectify the issue and are consulting with external experts, but to date cannot find the cause of the issue or a solution. As it has been a season of more days closed than open and we understand how frustrating this has been for the community, we have made the decision to call it closed for 2017.

Other users such as the Motueka Swimming Club and the early morning lane swimmers have continued to utilise the pool.

Public swimming at the Motueka High School Pool is managed by Sport Tasman on behalf of the Tasman District Council. Located on Whakarewa Street, Motueka.

The 33.3 metre outdoor pool is open daily throughout the summer school holidays between 1pm and 4pm for public swimming. At a cost of only $3 per person it is an ideal place to take a fun dip with the entire family. Under 8 years old must be actively supervised (within arm's reach).
