Note from Sport Tasman 15 Nov 2016

A quick update from Sport Tasman - we hope all those affected by the earthquakes are getting through well and that the community spirit is kicking in! Here in Kaikoura we have a few challenges with power, internet, roads etc but people mostly managing well.
It will be quite a slow process getting schools, pools etc assessed and running again. We will be reassessing what programmes we can run, as that information becomes available. The Lions Pool itself looks very compromised but we will see what the experts say!
Kim can be contacted on 029 773 1524 - texting is best to conserve battery power.
Keep safe everyone.

Upcoming events in Kaikoura:

Throughout the year many events, activities, projects and programmes are lead, supported or delivered in and around Kaikoura by Sport Tasman. The major events over the summer lead by Sport Tasman are:

Kids Active Holiday Programme:

A lot of work has been done in the last 3 years to create a Kaikoura Kids Active Holiday Programme for the town to be proud of and get the kids active and learning during the holidays. Spring programme runs from Monday 3rd October to Friday 7th October 2016. Enrolment Form. We have been recognised for our efforts and have recently earned OSCAR accreditation (Out of School Care and Recreation).  This means a higher quality programme with great activities and high levels of safety.  Working subsidies are available to cover some or all of the user fees if you’re a working parent that meets the criteria.  It’s best to apply early to get your subsidy well before the holidays start.  Call Heartlands to find out more information on subsidies on 03 909 9292.

Kaikoura’s very own Sports Trailer is ready for action!
Some of you may have seen this fun filled trailer about town or been lucky enough to use it already.  It's jam packed with a myriad of sporting toys, from pre-school toys, to balls, bats, hockey kits, fitness gear and more.  Over the holidays it can be hired privately for birthday parties/special occasions, or community events.  Get in touch with Kim to find out more.

Kaikoura Lions Pool:

The Pool is now CLOSED.

Kaikoura Summer Explorer - Jan to March 2017

This is a FREE event you can be part of....get to see all the local walks in Kaikoura and enjoy the wonderful scenery it has to offer while answering questions along the way. A great way to get out and about this summer. Booklets available from Kaikoura iSite or download 2016 booklet here.

Thank a Sport Maker:

The community is full of volunteers of every capacity – from coaches to uniform washers and orange cutters.  These are the people that need recognition, they are the people that keep our sport community going.  Please go on and place your vote for them – You are able to nominate more than one person.
